Dance Legend: Strutter No. 23

OMG.  This polish is freaking amazing!  They don’t call this collection ‘Wow Prism’ for nothing!  Currently on my nails is Dance Legend Strutter, a gorgeous emerald green holo. Normally I’m not a big fan of green polish, but this color is beautiful and it shimmers like no other.

This color was perfectly opaque in two easy coats.  Can’t get any better than that… well maybe if it was a one coater but still this color! I topped it off with a decent layer of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.  I have a feeling I’m going to get a lot of compliments on this one.  You won’t be able to find this brand in stores, which is based out of Russia, but thankfully http://www.llarowe.com sells them for $13 a pop.  Not too bad.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday!  I just started a new job last week and today was the first day I was pretty busy and it felt great!  Until next time…

I Love Nail Polish: Undenied

I Love Nail Polish is another amazing indie brand that I have recently tried.  The color I’m wearing is called Undenied, which is from the Spring 2014 collection.  Undenied is a beautiful multichrome polish that transitions from a deep royal purple to a copper-y orange.  To die for! Multiple pictures were definitely needed to capture its true beauty!  Could you blame me?

I only needed two thin coats of polish to get full opacity.  When I applied the first coat it looked a little thin, but by the second coat it was perfect!  It didn’t even need top coat, but I applied a layer of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.  I Love Nail Polish has 6 more multichromes as well as 5 holos coming out in their Summer collection that will begin taking preorders Friday, May 16th at 12 PM PST! Make sure you check them out! I know I’m going to be snagging a few more polishes from them!

Happy Hump Day!

P.S. I don’t know how the hell I got a dent on my pointer finger. 😦

KB Shimmer: Full Bloom Ahead

Image

KB Shimmer was one of the first indie nail polish brands I tried and I fell in love at first brush stroke.  Her polishes are always slam packed with glitter, which means there isn’t much glitter placement needed to be done. I only had to add a little to my pointer finger because for some reason all of the glitter was concentrated toward the bottom of my nail!  The most recent polish I’ve worn is from the Spring 2014 collection called Full Bloom Ahead.

It is a white crelly polish with deep pink, dark blue, orange, yellow, and teal glitters. As you can see the white crelly is opaque enough in two coats to cover the nail and still allows the glitters to shine through.  Its perfect!  I added one decent coat of Seche Vite dry fast top coat to complete the look!  If you’ve never tried an indie polish before you should definitely check out KB Shimmer! You will not be disappointed!  http://www.kbshimmer.com

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday!  Its beautiful here in North Carolina!

Live.Love.Carnaval Mani

Image

I posted this mani a few weeks ago on my Instagram (@carlylizabeth).  I used two OPI colors for this fun manicure.  The main color is Live.Love.Carnaval from their Brazil Collection.  As always, OPI has an amazing formula with this one.  It was basically a one coater if you do a decent coat, but I always like using two.  This color is absolutely beautiful!  I would describe it as an almost neon coral.  I could not stop staring at my nails when I wore this color!

The glitter I used was from their Mariah Carey Holiday Collection 2013, it’s called My Favorite Ornament.  It took about 2-3 coats for full coverage, which isn’t too bad.  I did a reverse gradient on my middle finger and used NailVinyls to create the chevron look on my ring finger.  You can purchase these through @teismom on Instagram or NailVinyls.com.

Hope you enjoyed my first nail post!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog.  My entries will be a compilation of make up, nails, fashion, and occasionally food.  I would like to introduce myself to start, my name is Carly and I am a 24 year old that was born in New York, but raised in the Raleigh, NC area.  I come from a large Italian family and have always been a girly girl with a little bit of tomboy in me.  Ever since I was little I can remember getting little make up kits, nail polish, and tea sets for holidays and birthdays.  I’ve always loved make up and nail polish, but I didn’t realize my passion for it until a little bit later in life.

Make up was my first love.  My cousin Jessica, who is 5 years older than me, got me into make up when I was in the 7th grade.  I can remember visiting them in Florida and she asked me one night if I had ever used CoverGirl eye shadow in Champagne – my response was nope, never.  Later that visit she took me to Walmart and purchased it for me.  Since then I started using make up more regularly.  When I was bored in high school and didn’t have a car I would sit in my room and test out new techniques.  I’ve learned that liquid liner is not my thing and that I prefer a more natural make up look with a pop of color.

My love for nail polish came about 3 years ago.  I had just gone through major surgery, which had a recovery period of two months, and a break up of an almost 4 year relationship.  I had nothing to do all day because all my family/friends were working during the day.  I had to pass time somehow and daytime TV was not working, so I started reading nail polish & make up blogs.  A few weeks after surgery I could start driving again and one of the first places I drove to was Ulta.  I bought myself some nail polish and I have been hooked ever since.
