Mani Monday!

Happy Mani Monday!  I have always loved the look of a jewel toned mani, so I decided to do one myself.  The colors I used are Essie – Going Incognito (emerald), Julep – Judi (dark plum), Julep – Briana (navy), and Julep – Mary Lee (oxblood).

All the colors had amazing formulas.  Two coats to reach opacity.  I originally did just a plain mani, but I decided to add a tear drop stud.  I feel like the stud kinda brings it all together and gives it a simple elegance.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday!

OPI: 4 In The Morning

4 In The Morning is from OPI’s Gwen Stefani collection. It’s a beautiful black satin with a slight bit of shimmer.  The satin formula is not completely flat matte, it still has some shine.  The formula was nice.  Two easy coats to reach opacity.

This polish is meant to be worn without a top coat, hence the reason it is a satin polish, but many people like the shine and add a top coat.  I think if a top coat is added it will bring out the shimmer more.  I personally like the satin, so I’m leaving it as is!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  The fair just started here and I can’t wait to eat lots of good, fried food and people watch!

Gray and Glitter

I used Cirque Colors XX over Julep Erin.  First lets talk about this gray, freaking amazing.  The formula was like butter!  It went on extremely smooth and was basically a one coater.  The formula alone is enough to fall in love with this polish.  Cirque Colors XX is absolutely beautiful as well.  This is two coats over Erin.  It has all different types of holographic glitters.  Square, diamond, hex, small hex, and micro glitters.

I couldn’t stop looking at my nails when I wore this glitter and I received many compliments on it as well.  The polish wore well too.  I didn’t have any chips until four or five days of wear.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

MAC: All Fired Up

I haven’t done any beauty posts yet, so why not start now?! I posted these pictures on my Instagram (carlylizabeth) about a week ago.  I tend to take my beauty pictures in the car with my iPhone 5s because I feel like that’s where I get the most natural lighting.  I haven’t even tried taking beauty pictures with my nice camera, but I probably need to start playing with it.

Besides nail polish I’m a huge lipstick fanatic, especially MAC. During the work week I don’t wear too much eye make up, mainly because I’m lazy and try to get as much sleep as possible, but I love throwing on a pop of color to the lips.  I’m wearing All Fired Up from MAC’s Retro Matte collection.  It’s described as a ‘bright fuchsia matte’ but I think it reads a little more red on me than fuchsia.  Absolutely beautiful color!

The formula for this lipstick was nice too.  A little dry, but not enough to have to worry about putting on some lip balm before hand to help with the application.  I would recommend MAC lipstick to anyone!  Great formula for a decent price.

Hope everyone is having a good week!  Only one more day until Friday! Yay!
