Saran Wrap Mani

I used China Glaze Highlight of My Summer and OPI Love. Angel. Music. Baby. Highlight of My Summer is an amazing neon mint green. The formula was a little streaky. It took three coats to be completely opaque, but it did even out quite well. It also dried pretty quickly, which was nice.

Love. Angel. Music. Baby. is from the Gwen Stefani collection and has a satin finish. I didn’t add a top coat to the nails with this on top because I liked the contrast of a glossy polish underneath and the satin finish.

The saran wrap mani is extremely easy to do! Paint your nails with whichever base coat you want and let it dry or add a fast dry top coat to speed up the process. Grab some saran wrap and cut it into smaller squares. Bunch the saran wrap up into a ball and paint the next polish you want to use on the balled up saran wrap. I normally blot a little bit onto a piece of paper then pat it on your nail. Clean up with either a q-tip or a brush. Easy as that!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Julep: India

I’ve been wearing Julep India on my nails for the last few days. It’s a beautiful metallic blue with green shimmer. Unfortunately the green shimmer doesn’t show up much on the nail or in the pictures.

The formula for this polish was ok. A little thick and gloopy, which made application a little tricky. I had to do my nails twice because the first time around it didn’t dry quickly enough and I smudged multiple nails. The second go around I did thinner coats and it dried faster.

This polish didn’t chip much either. I’ve been wearing it for about 3 days and there is only a little bit around the tips of my right hand, which is my dominant hand. Blue polish is one of my favorites and this one definitely doesn’t disappoint, even with the thick application.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Labor Day weekend! I’m about to head to a cook out in just a few to enjoy this last little bit of summer we have left. Stay safe!

I Love Nail Polish: Charmingly Purple

I Love Nail Polish brand never disappoints!  Here we have Charmingly Purple from their Spring 2014 collection.  This color is a pastel purple with some periwinkle undertones.  It went on in two easy coats!  The first coat was a little thin, but by the second coat it evened out completely.

The holographic affect is amazing in this polish.  You can see every color in the rainbow.. pink, green, blue, silver!  It’s just so damn pretty.  I Love Nail Polish just began pre-orders for their fall collection yesterday.  I would highly recommend picking up some (and they are a little cheaper when you pre-order).  They have a wide range of holographic polishes and if you’re new to the indie nail polish scene you can’t go wrong with ILNP!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!  I just finished making my grandma’s meatballs for tomorrow’s dinner!  I already ate one– ya know the cook always has to taste the food first. 🙂  I can’t wait to shove my face with them.

Bachelorette Weekend Nails

Happy Friday!!  In just a few short hours I’m driving down to Charleston, SC for a bachelorette party!  I’m headed down there with 9 other girls for a weekend full of good food, good friends, drinking, and penises!  I can’t wait!

I decided to do something fun and colorful for this weekend with my girls. This is my third time trying a gradient… not too shabby.  I’ve got to work on my blending, but they definitely turned out better than the last time.  I didn’t even post the last ones I did because they looked awful!  I did post a far away picture on my instagram (@carlylizabeth), but I was too embarrassed to put it on here.

For this gradient I used Zoya Ali (pink), China Glaze That’s Shore Bright (purple), and China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle (teal).  I love this color combination!  Perfect for holding on to the last month of summer.  These colors were pretty opaque and only took a few times with the sponge to cover my white base, which was Julep Bunny.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

China Glaze: Take A Trek

My current manicure features China Glaze Take a Trek from their 2013 Hologlam Collection.  It’s a beautiful denim blue with linear holo.  Although the color is absolutely gorgeous, I did have some issues with the formula.

The formula was on the thicker side, which made It gloopy and hard to move around the nail.  There were a couple of nails where I tried to go over the polish to fix spots, but instead of fixing it the brush picked up the polish that was already there and created a bald spot.

Thankfully, the second coat evened it out.  The polish also chipped pretty easily.  By day two of wearing it I already had chips on multiple nails.  Although I had issues with the formula, I would definitely wear it again.  It’s just so pretty and blue is one of my favorite nail polish colors.

Thanks for reading!  I hope everyone has had an amazing weekend!

China Glaze: Seahorsin’ Around

So… I’ve been slacking on my nails the last month.  Oops.  I got a new job and boyfriend then kinda forgot about my nails.  Tsk Tsk!  But I’m back at it!

Recently I wore Seahorsin’ Around from China Glaze’s Sea Goddess Collection.  Its a textured teal polish with green/silver-ish, which completely freaked my camera out in the sun!  I could not for the life of me get a good picture of how truly beautiful it was.

I found myself looking at my nails often when I wore this polish just to admire it.  It went on perfectly opaque in two coats and dried pretty quickly.  I have another color from this collection and now I can’t wait to wear it!

I hope everyone has an amazing & safe 4th of July!  I’m planning on painting my nails for the 4th tonight or tomorrow, so expect another post soon!

See ya then!
