I Love Nail Polish: Phoenix

Happy Mani Monday!

I’ve been on an unofficial no buy (minus my Julep Maven boxes) for the last few months, but when ILNP released their Ultra Chrome Flakies I had to have some!  This is two coats of Phoenix over Julep Judi, which is a dark violet.

The flakies in Phoenix shift through a variety of colors including purple, pink, orange, and gold.  The formula was amazing.  The flakies covered the whole nail with zero bald spots.  I can’t wait to try the other three I picked up!

Julep: Blakely

Julep Blakely is a gorgeous purple/green duochrome with dark grey undertones.  The polish was two easy coats for full opacity.  The formula was not too thick and not too thin… just perfect!

I couldn’t get a good picture of the duochrome because I had zero sun by my house this afternoon.  Oh well… it’s still beautiful.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Mani Monday!

Happy Mani Monday!  I have always loved the look of a jewel toned mani, so I decided to do one myself.  The colors I used are Essie – Going Incognito (emerald), Julep – Judi (dark plum), Julep – Briana (navy), and Julep – Mary Lee (oxblood).

All the colors had amazing formulas.  Two coats to reach opacity.  I originally did just a plain mani, but I decided to add a tear drop stud.  I feel like the stud kinda brings it all together and gives it a simple elegance.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday!

Gray and Glitter

I used Cirque Colors XX over Julep Erin.  First lets talk about this gray, freaking amazing.  The formula was like butter!  It went on extremely smooth and was basically a one coater.  The formula alone is enough to fall in love with this polish.  Cirque Colors XX is absolutely beautiful as well.  This is two coats over Erin.  It has all different types of holographic glitters.  Square, diamond, hex, small hex, and micro glitters.

I couldn’t stop looking at my nails when I wore this glitter and I received many compliments on it as well.  The polish wore well too.  I didn’t have any chips until four or five days of wear.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Julep: India

I’ve been wearing Julep India on my nails for the last few days. It’s a beautiful metallic blue with green shimmer. Unfortunately the green shimmer doesn’t show up much on the nail or in the pictures.

The formula for this polish was ok. A little thick and gloopy, which made application a little tricky. I had to do my nails twice because the first time around it didn’t dry quickly enough and I smudged multiple nails. The second go around I did thinner coats and it dried faster.

This polish didn’t chip much either. I’ve been wearing it for about 3 days and there is only a little bit around the tips of my right hand, which is my dominant hand. Blue polish is one of my favorites and this one definitely doesn’t disappoint, even with the thick application.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Labor Day weekend! I’m about to head to a cook out in just a few to enjoy this last little bit of summer we have left. Stay safe!

4th of July Nails

I hope everyone had an amazing 4th of July!  I had a nice relaxing three day weekend with friends and family.  These are the nails I wore for the holiday.  They definitely aren’t perfect, but they still look good!  The colors I used for this fun mani were OPI Dating a Royal (blue), Julep Sheila (red), and Julep Nicolette (white).

OPI dating a royal is a crelly- it goes on like a jelly but is opaque in two easy coats.  The formula of Julep Shelia is amazing!  A perfect one coat, no bald spots or anything!  Nicolette also had a pretty amazing formula.  This manicure is actually pretty easy to create with just a few easy steps.

I used NailVinyls (www.nailvinyls.com) to create the stripes and a star shaped hole punch that I purchased from AC Moore with tape for the stars.  I learned that it’s easier to put the tape on wax or parchment paper to prevent the hole punch from sticking to the tape when punching out the stars.  Pretty simple for something that looks difficult.

I hope everyone has an amazing work week.  Back to the grind.
