Shredded Glitter Gradient Tips

Happy Mani Monday!  Today I decided to do a mani that I’ve been thinking about doing for a while and just haven’t got around to it.  I was off today so I had a little extra time to sit down and focus on it.  I used two polishes from the OPI Muppets Most Wanted collection.

The base coat is a soft jelly pink named I Love Applause.  It was a little streaky and took three coats to get full opacity.  Normally when a polish requires three coats it stays tacky and takes a while for it to dry, but thankfully three coats with this polish dried pretty quickly.

The shredded glitter tips were done by using Gaining Mole-mentum.  This glitter topper has beautiful gold, rose gold, and silver shredded pieces.  There are big and small chunks throughout the polish, which made it easy to build up.

To create this look I painted my nails first with I Love Applause and let it dry for a few minutes.  For the gradient tips I put a couple of big drops of glitter onto a piece of paper then cleaned the brush of extra polish.  I then picked up chunks of glitter with the polish and placed them on the tips of my nails and built up at the edge of my nails.  Then pick up a few smaller shredded pieces and place them toward the middle of the nail to create more of a gradient look.

This look is a super fun twist on a regular glitter gradient!  I hope you enjoy this look as much as I do!  Have a good Monday!

4th of July Nails

I hope everyone had an amazing 4th of July!  I had a nice relaxing three day weekend with friends and family.  These are the nails I wore for the holiday.  They definitely aren’t perfect, but they still look good!  The colors I used for this fun mani were OPI Dating a Royal (blue), Julep Sheila (red), and Julep Nicolette (white).

OPI dating a royal is a crelly- it goes on like a jelly but is opaque in two easy coats.  The formula of Julep Shelia is amazing!  A perfect one coat, no bald spots or anything!  Nicolette also had a pretty amazing formula.  This manicure is actually pretty easy to create with just a few easy steps.

I used NailVinyls (www.nailvinyls.com) to create the stripes and a star shaped hole punch that I purchased from AC Moore with tape for the stars.  I learned that it’s easier to put the tape on wax or parchment paper to prevent the hole punch from sticking to the tape when punching out the stars.  Pretty simple for something that looks difficult.

I hope everyone has an amazing work week.  Back to the grind.

China Glaze: Seahorsin’ Around

So… I’ve been slacking on my nails the last month.  Oops.  I got a new job and boyfriend then kinda forgot about my nails.  Tsk Tsk!  But I’m back at it!

Recently I wore Seahorsin’ Around from China Glaze’s Sea Goddess Collection.  Its a textured teal polish with green/silver-ish, which completely freaked my camera out in the sun!  I could not for the life of me get a good picture of how truly beautiful it was.

I found myself looking at my nails often when I wore this polish just to admire it.  It went on perfectly opaque in two coats and dried pretty quickly.  I have another color from this collection and now I can’t wait to wear it!

I hope everyone has an amazing & safe 4th of July!  I’m planning on painting my nails for the 4th tonight or tomorrow, so expect another post soon!

See ya then!
